Friday May 02, 2025 Plans lodged for £1bn cancer research centre in Sutton
London Cancer Hub will deliver around 1m sq ft of lab and research space
Aviva Capital Partners and developer Socius have submitted plans for a £1bn cancer research and treatment campus in Sutton.
The 12-acre scheme at the London Cancer Hub will deliver around 1m sq ft of cutting-edge lab, R&D and office space next to The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden.
Plans include major buildings for global pharma firms, manufacturing space, wet labs, and collaborative offices. A ‘Learning Lab’, cafés, creche and 220 affordable flats for key workers are also included.
Buildings will be set around landscaped public space with new pedestrian and cycle routes. The design aims to drive collaboration across industry, academia and healthcare, with all buildings targeting net-zero carbon in operation.
The professional team includes Gensler (architect), Arup (engineer) and Gardiner & Theobald (PM/QS).
The planning application follows public consultation and is expected to be decided later this year.
